Election Day Caravan Departs Southern Mexico, Headed North
Oscar Ramirez walked with the caravan and live-streamed early this morning
TAPACHULA (Mex.) — This morning Real America’s Voice correspondent OSCAR RAMIREZ embedded with a large Election Day caravan of 2,500+ migrants that departed from southern Mexico at dawn, on foot, headed for Mexico City. Their ultimate destination is the U.S. southern border.
A spokesman for the caravan, Jasón Díaz from Venezuela, told reporters that the group seeks to exercise their rights under the UN Global Compact for Migration.
In response to a question from Ramirez concerning whether criminal elements have infiltrated the caravan, Díaz said there are many such elements, including those who seek to know whether any U.S. political party is paying him for his services.
The spokesman said migrants are not aligned with any party. They understand that Trump is a great businessman who kept the American economy strong, but that the Biden Harris administration will allow migrants to enter the United States.
Ramirez reports that this is the fourth such caravan to depart from southern Mexico in recent weeks. The Mexican government has relaxed measures it had taken over the past 10 months to restrain migrants in the southern part of the country using Mexico’s military and Guardia Nacional.
Conditions in southern Mexico have deteriorated in recent months, with migrants subject to cartel violence and kidnappings, as well as incidents with Mexican police in which migrants have been killed and injured in crossfire with cartel elements. The Election Day caravan carries a banner with the words, “NO + SANGRE MIGRANTE” — no more migrant blood.
Ramirez told his livestream audience: “The crisis was created by the Global Compact on Migration, from the United Nations. The problem was created by open border policies, by poverty, bad governments in Central and South America not resolving the problems of other countries, with their own corruption, with their own governments, it has a consequence. But the incentivization of the Biden administration, for this to continue, it goes beyond words, it goes beyond expectations. And the collateral damage has been people losing their lives, children being trafficked and abused. Sadly, that is the collateral damage.”
